The management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, has come out to refute claims that one of its lecturers was involved in a viral video scandal circulating online.
The viral video in question allegedly shows a lecturer being caught in an inappropriate act with a female student on university premises. However, the institution has dismissed these claims as false and misleading.
In the video, a group of students can be seen forcing their way into the lecturer's office in an attempt to apprehend him. The lecturer then allegedly jumps out of the office window and flees the scene.
The voiceover in the video claims that the incident occurred at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, describing the lecturer as a “notorious randy” man who is allegedly well known at the institution.
However, in a statement issued by the university's Director of Information and Public Relations, Aloysius Attah, it was revealed that the individuals in the video are neither staff members nor students of the university.
Attah added that the incident did not occur at the institution, emphasizing that staff members of the university are guided by strong ethical standards, and the management maintains zero tolerance for the exploitation of students under any guise.
The statement from the university reads:
The institution has urged members of the public, media organisations, and online platforms to desist from spreading unverified information and to take immediate steps to retract and correct such publications.
