The Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences, Iyin Ekiti, Ekiti State, has made a significant appointment, naming Engr. Prof. Olumide Moses Ogundipe as its new Deputy Vice-Chancellor.

The news of Prof. Ogundipe's appointment has been met with widespread approval from both within and outside the university community, a testament to his esteemed reputation. Currently, he serves as a National Exco member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers.

Prof. Ogundipe boasts an impressive academic and professional background, being a Fellow of both the Nigerian Society of Engineers and the Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers. His area of specialization is Transportation and Highway Engineering, and he holds the position of Professor of Civil Engineering.

This appointment marks the pinnacle of a career spanning over two decades, encompassing both academia and engineering practice.

Prior to his appointment as Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ogundipe held the position of Director of Special Duties in the Office of the Vice-Chancellor at the university. Additionally, between April and December 2025, he served pro bono as the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, where he successfully coordinated the National Universities Commission resource verification exercise for eight programmes within the faculty.

He also chairs the university's Road Projects Monitoring Committee and is a member of the Students' Disciplinary Committee, further showcasing his commitment to the institution.

Prof. Ogundipe's academic and administrative credentials are built on years of service at Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, where he progressed from Assistant Lecturer in 2004 to Professor, effective from 1st October 2019.

During his tenure at Ekiti State University, he held various leadership positions, including Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Head of Department, and Chairman of the Faculty of Engineering Postgraduate Committee, among other responsibilities within the university Senate and on several boards and committees.

He obtained his PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom, in 2012, after being awarded a Petroleum Technology Development Fund Scholarship in 2008 to research the mechanical behaviour of stress absorbing membrane interlayers.

Prof. Ogundipe also holds a Master of Engineering degree from the University of Ilorin, obtained in 2006, and a Bachelor of Engineering with First Class Honours from the University of Ado Ekiti (now Ekiti State University), obtained in 2001.

As a prolific researcher, Prof. Ogundipe has authored over 100 publications in both local and international journals, as well as in conference and workshop proceedings. His research focuses on sustainable asphalt pavement technologies aimed at enhancing road performance while protecting the environment.

He has supervised numerous postgraduate theses at the Postgraduate Diploma, Master of Engineering, and PhD levels and has served as an external and internal examiner at several institutions, including the University of Ilorin, Federal University Oye Ekiti, Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, and the Federal University of Technology, Akure.

His professional standing has also led to roles in assessing professorial candidates at universities such as Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, and Landmark University, Omu Aran. He has presented at international conferences in the United Kingdom, the United States, Greece, Poland, France, and Ghana, and has undertaken technical visits to Germany, Spain, and Sweden.

Beyond his academic pursuits, Prof. Ogundipe serves as Technical Advisor to the Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute on the construction of the National Test Track and is a member of the Institute's Technical Advisory Committee. He is also a member of the Ekiti State Road Stakeholders’ Forum.

Within the Nigerian Society of Engineers, he has held several positions, including Chairman of the Ado Ekiti Branch from 2018 to 2020 and representing the South West on the Society’s National Executive Committee between 2024 and 2025, where he chaired the Innovation and Technopreneurship Committee. Currently, he chairs the Society’s Memoranda of Understanding Implementation Committee.
