The Management of the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital has been made aware of a video circulating on Facebook that appears to show the condition of the Nursing Hostel within the hospital.

Management wishes to state that the hostel is presently undergoing renovation as part of ongoing efforts to upgrade facilities and improve student welfare. Consequently, all students residing in the hostel were instructed to vacate the premises so that the refurbishment could proceed safely and efficiently.

The footage shown in the video therefore captures a building in the middle of its rehabilitation process and should not be interpreted as the permanent or current operational state of the hostel.

While the Management appreciates the interest shown by members of the public and the media in hospital affairs, it encourages all stakeholders to verify information and seek clarification from the appropriate authorities before drawing conclusions or publishing material concerning the hospital and its facilities.

The public is therefore advised to view the video within its proper context and to disregard any interpretation that suggests the hostel is being neglected by Management.

The Management remains committed to the continuous improvement of infrastructure and to providing a safe, conducive and dignified environment for staff, students and patients.
