The Kaduna State College of Education, Gidan Waya, has instructed all learners to return to classes without delay and to fully comply with the 75 percent attendance requirement.

The instruction appears in a circular dated 25 September 2026, issued by the Directorate of Academic Planning and Monitoring and circulated to Heads of Departments, course lecturers and the entire student body via the Deans of Schools.

The notice confirms that academic activities for the first semester of the 2026/2027 session are now underway, and students must attend lectures, practical sessions and any other scheduled academic engagements.

The college also announced that registration for the first semester will open on 11 October 2026, with lectures slated to begin on 19 October 2026.

Management reiterated that the 75 percent attendance rule remains strictly enforceable.

Under this regulation, each learner must achieve at least 75 percent attendance across lectures, practicals, tutorials and continuous assessments to qualify for examinations in any subject.

The institution warned that any student who falls short of the 75 percent threshold in a given course will be barred from sitting the exam for that course and will be recorded as having failed, leading to a carry‑over.

Other Consequences of Poor Attendance

The college further outlined additional penalties for non‑attendance or failure to resume, which include:

• Loss of Continuous Assessment (C.A.) marks.
• Denial of access to the school portal for examination card printing and course registration.

Deans, Heads of Departments and course lecturers have been instructed to start and maintain rigorous attendance tracking using the official register.

The college urges all students to treat the directive seriously and to observe the attendance policy for their own benefit.
