Nov, 12Views: 1579
As a result of the the recent JAMB plans to up the educational system of the country through CBT. The Edo state government has further put an effort to making sure that Benin state is not left out. Being one of the states with lesser CBT centers, the needed for this shouldn't be underestimated. Edo state governor, Godwin Obaseki, on Friday, November 3, laid the foundation stone for the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) 500-seat Computer-Based Test (CBT) center in Benin. At the event, Obaseki said the center would add value to the state’s education sector. It was also said that the state was known for hosting federal government institutions. “We saw it as our responsibility to our people and the federal government to have a south-south zonal office and a CBT center in the state and we had to do all within our means to get a land for the project,” he said. Also, the governor gave assurance of power supply to the center and construction of access roads to the place in 2018 and commended the federal government for releasing funds for the project, and hailed JAMB for introducing CBT which, he said, had helped to reduce examination malpractice. According to NAN, the registrar of JAMB, Prof Is-haq Oloyede, also commended the governor for promptly securing a parcel of land for the center. The growing number of candidates sitting for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in the state capital led to the decision to have a CBT center in Benin. He said: “Benin is the seventh in terms of JAMB examination enrollment and 22nd in terms of facilities available for candidates to sit for the examination. “To solve the facilities need in the state, the Federal Government, is building this CBT Center in the state." Meanwhile, JAMB on July 14 released the results of the 2017 university admission supplementary examination that was held on July 1. The supplementary examination was an avenue created by JAMB to allow late registration candidates for the first exams, and those will related challenges write the partake in this year's exams.
