The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended the deadline for the completion of admissions into public universities for the 2025/2026 academic session to Monday, November 17, 2025. According to the Board, the extension followed a formal appeal by the Association of Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities (AVCNU), citing delays caused by a recent court order that temporarily halted the 2025/2026 admission process until October 28, 2025. The situation was further compounded by the National Universities Commission (NUC)’s release of 229 newly accredited programmes across 37 universities on October 29, 2025, with admissions into those programmes only just commencing. JAMB explained that the extension was granted to promote fairness, inclusiveness, and adequate completion of the admission exercise, ensuring that all eligible candidates are given a fair opportunity to secure placement. The Board, however, stressed that this new deadline is final and non-negotiable, urging all institutions and candidates to complete all admission formalities on or before November 17, 2025. “All stakeholders are advised to take note of this adjustment and ensure strict compliance,” JAMB stated.
