The Sokoto State Scholarship Board has issued a fresh public notice announcing the commencement of a verification exercise for state scholarship beneficiaries for the 2025/2026 academic session.

According to a statement dated 18 December 2025, the exercise is designed for both newly admitted and returning beneficiaries who are indigenes of Sokoto State and are currently studying at selected institutions.

Institutions Covered

The verification exercise applies to students enrolled at the following schools:

• Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUSOK)
• Shehu Shagari College of Education, affiliated with Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto and Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria
• Shehu Shagari University of Education
• Sokoto State University

Only students from the listed institutions are expected to participate in the exercise at this stage.

Verification Schedule

The screening will be conducted in phases as outlined below:

• Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUSOK):
  Monday, 5 January – Saturday, 10 January 2026
• Sokoto State University:
  Monday, 26 January – Saturday, 31 January 2026

The exercise will take place within the respective campuses. Activities will commence daily at 8:00 a.m. prompt, and students are advised to arrive early to avoid delays.

Required Documents

Students attending the verification exercise are required to present the following documents:

• Duly completed scholarship application form
• Original copies and photocopies of all academic results
• Indigene letter
• Admission confirmation letter
• National Identification Number (NIN) slip
• Invoice and Remita, or any valid proof of payment for school registration fees

The board cautioned that incomplete documentation may affect verification, urging students to ensure all required papers are properly arranged before arrival.

Update on Other Institutions

The board noted that the dates and venues for students of Shehu Shagari University of Education and Shehu Shagari College of Education (affiliated with UDUSOK and ABU Zaria) will be communicated at a later time. Students from these institutions are advised to await further announcements.
