Postgraduate students of Bayero University, Kano (BUK) who were unable to complete their programmes within the approved duration have been given a clear directive by the university management. The notice applies specifically to affected PhD and Academic Master’s students.
The university has instructed such students to submit a formal letter requesting amnesty, addressed to the Provost, College of Postgraduate Studies. However, the process must strictly follow the approved channel: the letter is to be routed through the student’s Head of Department before it reaches the College. Students are strongly advised not to bypass this procedure, as doing so may cause unnecessary delays.
Importantly, students are to disregard the earlier instruction that required them to write directly to the Vice-Chancellor. That directive has since been withdrawn, and the current guideline replaces it. This clarification is necessary, as some students are still acting on the outdated information.
All affected students are expected to comply immediately. Those who previously shared the old message on class platforms or WhatsApp groups are encouraged to circulate this updated notice to avoid confusion, reduce stress, and ensure everyone is properly informed.
Bottom line: follow the new process, follow it correctly, and move fast.
