Edo State University, Iyamho — formerly known as Edo University Uzairue — has officially pushed back the physical resumption of academic activities for all undergraduate and JUPEB students. No exemptions. No special categories. Everyone in those groups stays off campus for now.

This decision came straight from the top, following an Emergency Senate Meeting held on Wednesday, 7 January 2026. When Senate meets urgently, you already know it’s not small talk.

Why the sudden pause? Hostel Renovation Work

Management traced the postponement to ongoing renovation projects in the university’s Halls of Residence. With hostels still under construction, the school has made it clear that undergraduate and JUPEB students should remain at home until further notice.

As for a fresh resumption date? None yet. The university says an update will be released once arrangements are finalized. Translation: don’t pack your bags just yet.

Online Lectures Continue — And Attendance Still Matters

Staying off campus does not mean staying idle. Undergraduate students are expected to continue with online lectures, which have already kicked off.

And yes, the university repeated this part for emphasis:
Students must record a minimum of 70 per cent lecture attendance to qualify for examinations. No attendance, no exams. Simple math.

Postgraduate Students Get A Different Instruction

Postgraduate students are on a separate track entirely. They are to resume physically on Monday, 12 January 2026, to continue first semester lectures for the 2025/2026 academic session.

Different level, different rules.

The circular was signed by the Acting Registrar, Mr. Vincen ERHAGBE, giving the directive full administrative backing.

Bottom line: undergraduates and JUPEB students stay online and stay serious; postgraduates resume on campus as scheduled. Keep your eyes open for updates — universities love surprises, but missing one is never funny.
