The University Community has been informed that the National Leadership of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) and Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) has issued a notice of indefinite strike action, set to commence on 1 May, 2026.

Critical areas of the University's operations will be affected by the strike action, including the normal routine for the supply of electricity and water. As a result, members of the University Community are advised to be mindful of their use of these amenities during the strike period, particularly given that the Second Semester of the 2025/2026 academic session has commenced and students have returned to Campus.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Edoba B. Omoregie, SAN, and the University Management have expressed hope that the issues leading to the strike action will be resolved amicably and as soon as possible, allowing the University's activities to return to normal.
