The Management of the University of Uyo (UNIUYO) has warned individuals and groups against the unauthorised use of the university’s name, logo and corporate identity on social media platforms.
The caution was issued in a press release released by the University’s Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR).
The statement noted that the institution had become aware of persons and collectives establishing social media pages to promote events and other activities without securing permission from the university’s official communication channels.
Officials indicated that such practices could damage the university’s brand image and generate confusion about events that are officially organized by the university.
Consequently, the university urged students and members of the university community to refrain from making false representations on the institution’s behalf.
“Students and members of the University Community are therefore advised to comply strictly with this directive. They are to obtain necessary approval before undertaking any activity involving the name of the University, logo or corporate identity,” the release read.
The notice also warned that anyone found violating the instruction will be subject to disciplinary measures in line with university regulations.
Vice‑Chancellor Prof. Christopher N. Ekong expressed his disappointment over the unauthorized actions and cautioned the public to remain vigilant against such misuse.
