FUNAAB Matriculates 186 Part-time Students For 2015/2016 Academic Session

May, 25Views: 870

A total of 186 fresh  part-time degree students of the University have been matriculated in the 2015/2016 Academic Session, which was presided over by the institution’s Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olusola Oyewole.

A total of 186 newly-admitted part-time students have participated in the 2015/2016 Academic Session Matriculation Ceremony. Breakdown shows that the matriculated students spread across five colleges of the University, as follows: College of Agricultural Management and Rural Development (COLAMRUD – 34), College of Environmental Resources Management (COLERM – 28), College of Food Science and Human Ecology (COLFHEC – 50), College of Physical Sciences (COLPHYS – 63) and College of Plant Science and Crop Production (COLPLANT – 11).

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olusola Oyewole, congratulated the students on their admission, noting that FUNAAB was one of the best universities in Nigeria and would continue to adopt sustainable effort at encouraging students to be disciplined in both their academic and social activities, adding that miscreants and academic pretenders would not be permitted to function. Professor Oyewole, who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Catherine Eromosele, stated that matriculation ceremony was meant to admit, advice as well as caution students on some salient issues that bordered on ethics and values that would guarantee successful studentship and nurturing them to become good citizens. He warned that matriculation was not just a ceremony of taking of photograph but a serious business of oath-taking and signing of legal documents, saying “It is an agreement between the students and the University with the promise to perform their duty and obligation, to respect, defend and promote the rules and regulations as well as the good name of the University”.

The Vice-Chancellor disclosed all the credentials presented for admission would be verified with the examining bodies and any student, who had falsified his or her credentials would be expelled from the University and handed over to the appropriate law enforcement agencies for prosecution in the law court. He pointed out that the University had zero tolerance for examination malpractice and other related vices, stressing that any student, who engaged in these vices would face appropriate sanctions, ranging from rustication to expulsion. “You are advised to report any case of harassment and undue pressure from any person or group of persons to the Part-Time Degree Coordinator’s office”, he added.

Professor Oyewole further stated that adequate facilities, which would assist students to maximize their opportunities of being in a University for personal and development were available, as additional academic building were also coming up. He encouraged the students to work hard, belief in themselves, shun pride and arrogance, make the best use of the facilities on ground and always pray for exceeding grace and sound health, divine protection, wisdom, knowledge, understanding and success in their academic endeavours.
