The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that it will release the results of 379,000 candidates who participated in the rescheduled Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) this Wednesday.

The makeup exam was held from Friday to Monday following widespread concerns over technical failures and human errors during the initial UTME, which significantly affected candidate performance, particularly in Lagos and the South-East.

JAMB acknowledged that the issues were due to flaws in its system, prompting the rescheduling. Last week, the board’s Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, admitted the board’s shortcomings and, in an emotional moment, publicly accepted responsibility while announcing the resit for the impacted students.

Out of the total 1,955,069 candidates who sat for the original UTME, over 1.5 million scored below the 200 mark out of 400—raising serious questions about the exam’s integrity and fairness.

During a media briefing on Monday, JAMB’s spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, confirmed that the results from the rescheduled exams would be available on Wednesday.

“The results for the rescheduled examination will be published on Wednesday,” Benjamin stated.

Earlier, Professor Oloyede had revealed that 379,997 candidates were impacted by the initial technical challenges—206,610 of them at 65 centres in Lagos and 173,387 across 92 centres in the South-East. He described the failures as the result of “sabotage,” noting that affected students began receiving SMS notifications last Thursday.

Of the nearly two million candidates whose results have been processed, only 4,756 (0.24%) scored 320 or higher. Another 7,658 candidates (0.39%) earned scores between 300 and 319, bringing the total number of those who scored 300 and above to just 12,414 (0.63%).

Furthermore, 73,441 candidates (3.76%) scored within the 250–299 range, 334,560 (17.11%) scored between 200–249, and 983,187 (50.29%) fell within the 160–199 bracket. Additionally, 488,197 candidates (24.97%) scored between 140–159, 57,419 (2.94%) scored between 120–139, 3,820 (0.20%) scored between 100–119, and 2,031 (0.10%) scored below 100.
