The Management of Bayero University Kano has officially commenced a preliminary inquiry into serious allegations of online misconduct involving an individual reported to be a student of the institution.
The university's intervention follows reports circulating in public commentary and across social media platforms linking the student to acts of online impersonation and financial misconduct.
In a press statement released on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, the University Management emphasized its commitment to maintaining high standards of discipline and character. The institution stated that any conduct capable of bringing its reputation into disrepute is treated with utmost seriousness.
The personal actions of any individual student do not represent the values or character of Bayero University Kano as an institution, the statement clarified.
The university confirmed that appropriate authorities are currently reviewing the matter in accordance with established rules and disciplinary procedures.
Key points of the ongoing process include verification of facts through a preliminary inquiry to ascertain the truth behind the allegations, adherence to law should the allegations be substantiated, and public cooperation. The Management has urged the public to refrain from speculation and the circulation of unverified information while the investigative process takes its course.
Amidst the investigation, the University also took the opportunity to commend the public-spirited efforts of individuals like Professor Farooq Kperogi and other anonymous donors. These individuals have been recognized for providing financial support to students in need, assisting with registration fees and other educational expenses.
