The Federal University of Education, Zaria has informed staff about the delay in the payment of February 2026 salaries due to technical challenges affecting the central payroll system.
According to an internal memorandum issued by the Acting Bursar, Mohammed Kabir Aliyu, FCCA, the delay resulted from technical problems in the central payroll and funds release systems at the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation. The issue reportedly followed the recent conversion of some Federal Colleges of Education into Universities, including the Federal University of Education, Zaria.
The memo explained that the University Management is currently working closely with the Federal Payroll Authorities to resolve the issue and ensure the immediate release of the affected salaries.
The University administration expressed regret over the inconvenience and anxiety the delay may cause staff members and appealed for patience and understanding while efforts are being made to correct the problem. "We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and anxiety this may cause. The University Management is actively liaising with the Federal Payroll Authorities to rectify the fault and secure immediate release of funds," the memo stated.
