The University of Lagos acknowledges the numerous calls, messages, and expressions of concern from members of the University community and the general public following the recent announcement by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), UNILAG Chapter.
The University wishes to clarify that it is not on strike. The planned industrial action by ASUU, UNILAG Chapter, which was scheduled to commence on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, was suspended on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, prior to its commencement.
Consequently, academic activities in the University have continued without disruption, including the First Semester Examinations for the 2025/2026 Academic Session, which are currently ongoing.
The issues raised by ASUU UNILAG are being addressed by the University Management within the ambit of available resources of the University, while constructive engagements and consultations continue.
The University Management appreciates the understanding and support of members of the University community, relevant stakeholders, and the general public during this period. Management also appeals for continued cooperation as these engagements progress in the interest of the welfare of staff and students, and the sustenance of a stable and productive academic environment.
