The Students’ Union Government (SUG) of the Federal University Dutse (FUD) has released an official statement regarding the ongoing efforts to reopen the university's central registration portal for newly admitted students.
In a press release dated March 11, 2026, signed by the SUG President, Comrade Isah Ibrahim, the Union expressed its deep regret over the final decision made by the university management. The issue primarily affects newly admitted students who had successfully secured admission and paid their acceptance fees but were unable to complete their central registration before the portal was closed.
Following a call for data, many affected students submitted their details to the SUG to bolster the case for a portal extension. The SUG leadership engaged in several high-level discussions with the Vice Chancellor and other relevant university officials to advocate for the affected students. However, the university authorities clarified that reopening the portal is currently 'beyond the capacity of the university.'
The management cited two primary reasons for this stance: Conflict with existing university regulations and Non-compliance with the guidelines set by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). The Union acknowledged the frustration and disappointment this news brings to the student body.
'Unfortunately, the outcome was not the one we had all hoped for. We truly share in the disappointment and deeply empathize with every student affected by this situation,' the statement read. The SUG assured students that it had exhausted all available channels of advocacy and remains committed to standing for the welfare and interests of the FUD community.
