Tertiary institutions owned by the Nasarawa state government under the aegis of Joint Union of Nasarawa State Tertiary Institutions (JUNSTI), yesterday suspended the three-week old strike they had embarked on since October 19, 2015 demanding for seven items, to include the 2013 promotion arrears, 2014 and 2015 promotion arrears and implementation, downward review of their taxes and for the re- visitation of their academic programmes, the autonomy of the higher institutions and also for the five-year domestication of their academic programmes.
The suspension of the strike was contained in a press release signed by the chairman of Joint union, Ariks Samuel Bashayi. The release stated that the strike was suspended to pave way for the amicable resolution of the matters raised within the period of the plea by the state assembly, standing committee on education, science and technology.
The release therefore called on all its members to resume work tomorrow (Monday), assuring them that they would not be victimized in any way for partaking in the strike.
