The Ogun State Institute of Technology, Igbesa, has addressed a misleading image circulating on social media. The image, which depicts masked gunmen at the institution's main gate, is false and AI-generated.
The institution's management states that the image does not represent any real event or security situation within or around the campus. At no time has such an incident occurred at the institution.
The public, students, parents, staff, and stakeholders are advised to disregard the image and accompanying narratives intended to create fear, panic, or confusion. Creating and disseminating false information can cause public alarm, damage reputation, and mislead the public, which is a serious crime.
The institution strongly condemns this act and warns individuals involved in creating, sharing, or promoting such false content to desist immediately. Efforts are underway to identify the source of the misleading publication, and those found culpable may be reported to law enforcement and regulatory authorities for investigation and possible prosecution.
OGITECH remains committed to providing a safe, secure, and conducive environment for learning and community development. The public is urged to rely only on information released through the institution's official communication channels.
