The Student Union Government of the State University of Medical and Applied Sciences (SUMAS), Enugu, has issued an urgent advisory to all students regarding misleading and inflammatory content circulating on social media platforms.
A digitally altered image falsely depicting a threat to the university community has been identified as a malicious fabrication designed to incite fear and disrupt the academic environment. The SUG Executives stress that such actions are not only unacceptable but also dangerous.
Students are urged to exercise extreme caution and critical thinking when sharing information online. It is essential to verify the authenticity of any material before posting, sharing, or reposting. Misinformation, particularly regarding security, can have severe real-world consequences that affect everyone.
The University Management maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards the creation, dissemination, or promotion of content that threatens the peace, security, or integrity of SUMAS and its students. Any student found engaging in activities that jeopardize campus welfare or contravene university regulations may face a disciplinary panel.
The collective goal is to foster an environment conducive to learning and growth. Students are encouraged to refrain from digital activities that undermine this mission and instead use social media as a tool for positive representation of the university.
The Student Union Government appreciates everyone's cooperation and reminds students to remain vigilant, especially during this critical period.
