The Students' Union Government (SUG) of Modibbo Adama University (MAU) in Yola, Adamawa State, has announced that the deadline for students to leave the university hostels has been pushed to Tuesday.
The notice, dated 18 October 2026, was released by the SUG and bears the signatures of its President, Sen. Yazeed Bello, and Secretary‑General Ahidjo Jibrilla Adamu.
The extension comes after the SUG President’s continuous attempts to resolve student concerns following a directive from university management that required students to vacate the hostels on Friday.
The SUG reported that after talks with the Vice‑Chancellor, the new deadline was set for Tuesday, providing additional time for those affected.
University officials also assured the SUG that they would coordinate with Heads of Departments to help clear students who still have pending project defenses.
As a result, all students are instructed to prepare to leave the hostels on Tuesday.
The union reiterated its dedication to safeguarding student interests and said it will keep engaging the appropriate authorities to guarantee that affected students receive proper consideration.
The SUG expressed gratitude to the student body for their patience and cooperation.
