How To Score Above 250 In This JAMB

Feb, 04Views: 11819

Many people think there is always a quick fix method to every problem. I believe that the only way up a ladder is to climb, and we all know that climbing demands a lot of work and requires some energy. It is easier to stay down than to climb up, so if your aim is for the top, then, there is a lot of work to be done. For this Jamb examination, the competition is stiff (with over 1 million registered candidates) and only the resilient, hardworking and diligent candidate will make it to the top.  Do not forget that this year’s exam is STRICTLY COMPUTER BASED (CBT).

Here are some tips to help you achieve your dream JAMB score.

  1. Know your learning speed and try to improve on it. We have fast and slow learners. IF YOU ARE A SLOW LEARNER, try to pace up a little more, it simply means you will require more hours of study than the others. Be prone to asking questions from friends, tutors and people you know are better at a subject than you are.
  1. Understand the rule of time management. The examination is a timed event. Your countdown begins when you hit the START button. If you are taking calculation subjects like MATHEMATICS, PHYSICS, CHEMISTRY, ACCOUNT, remember that you have FORTY-FIVE (45) minutes to answer FIFTY (50) questions. If you do the mathematics, it means you’ve got FIFTY-FOUR (54) seconds for each question. Also, ONE HOUR FIFTEEN MINUTES (01:15:00) is allocated to 100 ENGLISH LANGUAGE questions. Now in Mathematics for example, questions in topics like Matrices and determinant, Calculus & Integration, Partial Fractions will also have the same time allotted to them as other simpler questions that come from topics like Algebra, Subject of a Formula, etc. Hence you need to learn to save time with simpler questions for tougher ones.
  1. Learn to work in groups. By this we mean working with students of like minds. There are various forums online where you can interact with such students. An example of such forum where you can find articles like The review of a very important book like “The Last Days at Forcados High School” and other disturbing questions that are better resolved in a group is http://www.jambcbttest.com/forum You can start a forum with any topic of your choice and get responses from other users who are bright and able to help on such cases.
  1. You should also consider attending a JAMB TUTORIAL CENTRE, where you can be tutored on various techniques of answering JAMB questions in little or no time and also identifying the styles Jamb uses to ask questions in various topics across different subjects. There you’ll also be inspired by the periodic test you’ll be taking and by seeing your performance against that of others. My experience in tutorial centers tells me that it is a good one to try when preparing for such an exam like JAMB. But the key is in finding the right tutorial in your area where all these can be achieved and not the ones that will encourage you to go after ‘runs or orijo
  1. You’ll definitely need to brush up a bit on your COMPUTER SKILLS. Now if you are reading this, I’ll say you are almost equal to the task, as you have probably used some of the skills you’ll need for your exam to get here. Some of these include navigating a page/ website/computer environment, using the mouse to left/right click, using the vertical scroll bar to move up and down a page. If all of these sound strange to you, then you’ll need someone who is skilled in Computer usage to explain them to you and you’ll also have to practice and familiarize yourself with the computer. You can take free e-practice JAMB exams at http://www.jambcbttest.com/exam/ to get familiar with all these we’ve talked about. Try to do this as often as possible, say maybe three to four times in a week.

With all these in check, I trust you’ll reach the height that you desire in your forth coming JAMB examination. CU@DTOP :D
