The University of Uyo has issued a disclaimer notice regarding a fake advertisement circulating on social media platforms. The advert invites applicants for the University of Uyo Top-Up Degree Programmes in the 2026/2027 Academic Session, claiming to be from the School of Continuing Education & Professional Studies and signed by the Registrar, Mrs. Blossom E. The advertisement states that qualified candidates can apply for admission into the Top-Up Degree Programmes and requests applicants to purchase forms at ₦35, 000.00 each. However, the University has not approved, authorised, or accredited such Top-Up Degree Programmes.
The Management of the University strongly disapproves of this fake advertisement, which is intended to tarnish the image of the institution. The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Christopher N. Ekong, has expressed displeasure at this fabricated story and urges the public to disregard the advertisement.
The University of Uyo is known for its standard and quality learning, and this fake advertisement does not reflect the values of the institution. Members of the public are advised to be cautious and verify information before applying for any programme.
