Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai, Senate has approved the expulsion of a student.
The decision was made at the 109th Regular Meeting of the University Senate, following the consideration of the report submitted by the Senate Committee on Examination Misconduct.
The Committee, led by Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Aliyu Bello Mohammed, investigated the case involving Alfa Hussaini, a student of History and International Studies in the Faculty of Arts.
According to the Committee's report dated 22nd July, 2026, the student was allegedly found with a piece of paper containing written materials relevant to the Islamic Interpretation of History (ISS 409) examination while taking the test.
The report stated that the student admitted entering the examination hall with the handwritten material.
The Committee further found that the material belonged to the student, its contents were relevant to the examination, and the student allegedly refused to complete the University's examination misconduct form when requested by the Invigilators. It also noted that the student's statement of result had already been issued.
Relying on the provisions of the 2024 Edition of the IBB University Student Handbook, the Committee concluded that the offences of possessing unauthorized examination material relevant to the examination and refusing to complete the examination misconduct form, each attract the penalty of expulsion.
Following deliberations, the Senate approved the Committee's recommendation and directed that the student be expelled from the University.
The Senate also approved the retrieval of the statement of result that had earlier been issued to the student.
