The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has addressed a recent publication concerning the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) and a mobilisation levy.
The NYSC has stated clearly that it has never discussed, agreed to, or signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with NANS regarding the collection of any levy from students for national service mobilisation.
The NYSC operates under the authority of the Federal Government, implementing only approved policies, guidelines, and procedures from the appropriate government authorities.
For clarity, the NYSC mobilisation process is straightforward, involving collaboration between the NYSC Management and the Heads of Corps Producing Institutions (CPIs). The CPIs provide the necessary information on their graduates for mobilisation purposes.
The NYSC mobilisation process is not contingent upon the activities of any student association or organisation. Therefore, the public, especially Prospective Corps Members and students, should disregard any information suggesting that a levy payment to NANS or any other association is required for NYSC mobilisation.
The NYSC is committed to a transparent, credible, and efficient mobilisation process, in line with government policies and guidelines.
