General Admission Requirements:
All applicants must meet the university’s standard postgraduate entry criteria, which include a recognized undergraduate degree, minimum grade requirements, and any programme‑specific prerequisites.
Eligibility for Postgraduate Programs:
Applicants who wish to enroll in postgraduate courses must hold a degree from Osun State University or any recognized university. Graduates from other institutions, such as approved polytechnics, are also eligible. Additionally, every candidate must have at least five (5) credit passes at O’ Level – English Language plus four other relevant subjects – obtained in no more than two examination sittings. The Faculty of Law is an exception; for its programmes, the bachelor's degree entry condition requires five credit passes obtained in a single sitting. O’ Level results dated up to 2018 must be presented as original certificates; statements of results or result slips will not be accepted.
Postgraduate Diploma Programme:
Candidates aiming for the Postgraduate Diploma must have achieved at least a third class in their bachelor's degree, or a lower credit in a Higher National Diploma (H.N.D.).
Master’s Degree Programme:
Academic and Professional Master’s Degree
i. Prospective students for both academic and professional master’s programmes must satisfy at least one of the following conditions.
ii. Applicants to academic master’s programmes should possess a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division) in their first degree.
iii. Individuals with a Third Class bachelor's degree together with a relevant Postgraduate Diploma must have attained a weighted average of not less than 60.00%.
iv. Those holding a lower credit in an H.N.D. and a relevant Postgraduate Diploma must also have a weighted average of at least 60.00%.
v. Candidates whose undergraduate classification falls below the thresholds may still be considered for a Professional Master’s programme.
Ph.D. Degree Programme:
Applicants for Ph.D. studies must be masters degree holders with a minimum weighted average of 60.00% or a CGPA of 3.50 in their master’s programme.
DBA Degree Programme:
To qualify for the Doctor of Business Administration, candidates must be graduates of Osun State University or any other approved university with an MBA and a weighted average not lower than 60B. Additional criteria include:
- A minimum of Second Class (Lower Division) in the bachelor’s degree.
- Holders of an H.N.D. with at least Upper Credit, or a professional qualification in administration, may apply provided they first complete a mandatory nine‑month Postgraduate Diploma at the university and meet the basic entry requirements.
- Applicants with a Postgraduate Diploma from a recognized university and an Upper Credit may also be considered, subject to the university’s matriculation standards.
- Individuals possessing an academic Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Accounting, Business, Management or related fields from a reputable institution, whether local or abroad, are eligible.
M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree Programme:
Candidates who have achieved a minimum weighted average of 55.00% (or a CGPA of 3.00) at master’s level may apply for the MPhil/Ph.D. track. The programme spans at least one session, after which students can transition to the Ph.D. route. Those who wish to convert to a Ph.D. must obtain a conversion examination report from a Panel of Examiners at the end of the first registration session and must have secured an aggregate of at least 60% by the conclusion of that session.

Applicants who are not alumni of Osun State University must arrange for their previous universities or institutions to send their first‑degree or master’s transcripts directly to the Secretary, Postgraduate College, Osun State University, P.M.B. 4494, Osogbo, Osun State. Transcripts may also be forwarded electronically via email; however, electronic copies must originate from the official email address of the issuing university or institution to guarantee authenticity.
