Additionally, every applicant is required to hold at least five (5) credit passes at the ‘O’ Level, including English Language and four other relevant subjects, obtained in no more than two examination sittings. An exception applies to programmes within the Faculty of Law, where the entry criterion at the bachelor's level demands five credit passes obtained in a single sitting. Applicants whose ‘O’ Level results were issued up to the year 2018 must submit the original certificates for verification; statements of results or result slips will not be accepted for these candidates.

Postgraduate Diploma Programme:

Prospective students targeting the Postgraduate Diploma must have achieved at least a third‑class standing in their bachelor's degree, or a minimum of lower credit in a Higher National Diploma (H.N.D.).

Master’s Degree Programme:

Academic and Professional Master’s Degree

i. Admission to the academic and professional master’s programmes is open to candidates who satisfy any of the conditions listed below.

ii. Applicants for academic master’s programmes should possess a minimum of Second Class (Lower Division) in their first degree.

iii. Candidates holding a Third Class bachelor’s degree may be considered if they also hold a relevant postgraduate diploma and have attained a weighted average of not less than 60.00%.

iv. Those with a lower credit in an H.N.D. together with a pertinent postgraduate diploma are eligible provided they have achieved a weighted average of at least 60.00%.

v. Applicants with a lower degree classification may be admitted solely into a Professional Master’s programme.

Ph.D. Degree Programme:

Applicants for the Doctor of Philosophy must be holders of a master’s degree and have secured a weighted average of 60.00% or a CGPA of 3.50 in that master’s programme.

DBA Degree Programme:

Candidates aspiring to the Doctor of Business Administration must be graduates of Osun State University or any other recognised university and must hold a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a weighted average not falling below 60B. Additional entry conditions include:

  • Possession of at least a Second Class (Lower Division) bachelor’s degree.
  • Holders of an H.N.D. with a minimum of Upper Credit, or those with a professional qualification in administration, may apply provided they first complete a mandatory nine‑month Postgraduate Diploma offered by the university and meet the basic entry requirements.
  • Applicants with a recognised Postgraduate Diploma that carries an Upper Credit may also be considered, subject to the university’s matriculation standards.
  • Individuals who have earned an academic Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Accounting, Business, Management, or related fields from a reputable institution, whether local or abroad, are eligible.

M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree Programme:

Candidates who have achieved a minimum weighted average of 55.00% (or a CGPA of 3.00) at master’s level are welcome to apply for the MPhil/Ph.D. programmes. The course runs for at least one academic session, after which a candidate may transition to the Ph.D. track. Those who wish to convert to a Ph.D. must submit a conversion examination report prepared by a designated Panel of Examiners at the end of the first registration session. Successful conversion requires an aggregate score of no less than 60% at the conclusion of that initial session.

Other Information:

Applicants who are not alumni of Osun State University must arrange for their former university or institution to forward their first‑degree or master’s transcripts directly to the Secretary, Postgraduate College, Osun State University, P.M.B. 4494, Osogbo, Osun State. Transcripts may also be transmitted electronically via email; however, the electronic version must be sent from the official email address of the originating university or institution to guarantee authenticity.
