Abubakar Tatari Ali Polytechnic (ATAPOLY) in Bauchi has secured approval from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to launch a National Diploma (ND) course in Artificial Intelligence (AI) beginning the 2026/2027 academic session.

The NBTE notice places ATAPOLY at the top of a list of 41 institutions cleared to run the programme, reflecting its strong standing among peers.

Approval was granted after a review of the polytechnic’s qualified teaching staff and technologists, together with its dedicated facilities, which include AI laboratories, programming and digital systems suites, micro‑controller labs, and spaces for practical project work.

For the inaugural cohort, the board has authorized admission of 80 candidates under Stream A.

The curriculum is designed to equip learners with hands‑on expertise in areas such as artificial intelligence, software programming, machine‑learning techniques, data processing, robotics and other emerging digital technologies.

This endorsement marks a significant milestone for ATAPOLY, underscoring the institution’s resolve to furnish students with competencies that align with the rapidly evolving, technology‑driven job market.
