Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) in Zaria has given its approval to the academic calendar for the 2026/2027 session.

The University Senate endorsed the timetable during its 565th regular meeting on Thursday, 24 September 2026.

First Semester

The first semester will follow the schedule outlined below:

• Registration: Monday, 4 January – Saturday, 16 January 2027
• Lectures: Monday, 18 January – Saturday, 6 March 2027
• Mid‑Semester Break: Monday, 8 March – Saturday, 13 March 2027
• Lectures: Monday, 15 March – Saturday, 24 April 2027
• Final Examinations: Monday, 26 April – Saturday, 15 May 2027
• End of Semester Break: Monday, 17 May – Saturday, 29 May 2027

The Add/Drop window for the first semester is set from Monday, 25 January to Saturday, 6 February 2027.

Second Semester

Activities for the second semester are planned as follows:

• Lectures: Monday, 31 May – Saturday, 24 July 2027
• Mid‑Semester Break: Monday, 26 July – Saturday, 31 July 2027
• Lectures: Monday, 2 August – Saturday, 11 September 2027
• Final Examinations: Monday, 13 September – Saturday, 2 October 2027

The Add/Drop period for the second semester will run from Monday, 21 June to Saturday, 3 July 2027.

Results Processing and Other Activities

The approved calendar also allocates dates for departmental course allocation, student course evaluation, examination card printing, marking of examinations, meetings of departmental and faculty Boards of Examiners, Senate Standing Committee sessions, and the submission of graduating students' results to the Senate.

For the first semester, the Senate will receive the graduating students' results on Thursday, 29 July 2027.

For the second semester, the presentation of graduating results to the Senate is scheduled for Thursday, 23 December 2027.

The university confirmed that all national and state public holidays will be observed throughout the 2026/2027 academic session.
