The Federal University of Technology (FUT), Babura, Department of Civil Engineering, has announced the schedule and guidelines for the 2025 Students’ Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) defence, specifically for 400 Level students. This defence is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, 21st January, 2026, as stated in a notice issued by the Office of the Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme (STWES).
To prepare for the defence, students are required to create a PowerPoint presentation that does not exceed 15 pages. The presentation should adhere to a specific format, which includes: a Cover Page, Introduction, Trainings Received, and Conclusion.
In addition to the presentation, all affected students must submit several documents by Monday, 19th January, 2026, to be eligible for the defence. These documents include the SIWES Logbook, SIWES Form B (hard copy), and the SIWES Assessment Form, which must be duly signed and stamped by the industry-based supervisor. The department has emphasized that only students who submit all required documents before the deadline will be scheduled for the SIWES defence. Failure to comply will result in students having to carry over the 300 Level SIWES programme.
The SIWES presentation schedule will be released on Tuesday, 20th January, 2026, and will be strictly based on the list of qualified students. For students who could not be reached by their institution-based supervisors due to faulty phone numbers or network issues, the department advises visiting the STWES office between 9:00am and 1:00pm on either Monday, 19th January, 2026, or Tuesday, 20th January, 2026, for proper evaluation before the defence day.
