The 36th LASUSU executives, led by President Comr. Adebayo Korede Peter, have addressed concerns regarding the recent adjustment of campus shuttle fares to 150. The In-House Committee on Transportation met with shuttle operators to tackle issues such as the challenge of obtaining 50 naira change and reports of undue charges.
After extensive deliberation, several resolutions were reached. Shuttle drivers are now required to accept bank transfers from students who do not have exact change. If they cannot accept bank transfers, drivers should be prepared to forfeit 50 naira from the 150 naira fare in replacement for 100 naira.
Alternatively, students who cannot transfer should be prepared to pay 200 naira. To ensure easy identification, all shuttle buses must display their numbers clearly at the front. Students are strongly encouraged to report any cases of extortion or non-compliance by drivers.
These measures aim to ensure fairness, accountability, and protection of students from exploitation. The LASUSU remains committed to safeguarding the welfare of all LASUites and will continue to monitor the situation closely to ensure full compliance.
