The Senate of Akwa Ibom State University announced the promotion of several academic staff at its 120th Meeting held on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, in the Senate Chambers, Main Campus, Ikot Akpaden, Mkpat Enin Local Government Area.

To the rank of Professor, the following staff were promoted: 1. Professor Aniefiok E. Ite, Deputy Director, Academic Planning and Ag. Director, Career Services Centre, from the Department of Chemistry; 2. Professor Unwana Ekpe from the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering; 3. Professor Aniebiet Etuk, Ag. Director, Centre for General Studies, from the Department of Marketing; 4. Professor Ololade M. Olatunji, Ag. Dean, Faculty of Engineering.

Additionally, the Senate announced the promotion of the following academic staff to the rank of Associate Professor: 1. Dr. Godwin Ekong, Ag. Director, Centre for Automotive Training, Transport and Logistics, from the Department of Mechanical Engineering; 2. Dr. Promise Etim, Ag. Director, Mutual Partnership and University Development, and Ag. Head, Department of Agricultural Engineering; 3. Dr. Anietie Ekott from the Department of Geology.
