The Vice-Chancellor of Federal University Dutse, Professor Ahmad Muhammed Gumel, has introduced a summer programme to help students with carry overs and spill overs graduate on time.
According to the university's official weekly newsletter dated 10th May, 2026, the initiative was approved during the Vice-Chancellor's first maiden Senate meeting.
Prof. Gumel explained that the programme was introduced after the Senate observed that many students may be unable to graduate within their period of residency due to unresolved carry overs. He stated that the summer programme will provide affected students with the opportunity to remedy their outstanding courses and complete their studies without unnecessary delays.
The Vice-Chancellor also disclosed that the programme will commence during the current academic session, while modalities for its operation will be announced soon.
Prof. Gumel urged students to take their studies seriously, assuring them that the university management remains committed to creating a conducive learning environment.
Reacting to the development, the President of the Students' Union Government, Comrade Isa Ibrahim, expressed appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor for the initiative, noting that it would greatly assist students facing carry over and spill over challenges.
