The Ogun State Institute of Technology (OGITECH) management strongly condemns the police brutality against students, including the Student Union President, which occurred on the night of Tuesday, 12th May 2026.
The management is deeply disturbed by this incident, emphasizing that no student should be subjected to violence, intimidation, or physical abuse. The safety, dignity, and fundamental rights of every OGITECH community member are non-negotiable.
The management has expressed frustration over the incessant harassment and brutality of students by certain Nigeria Police Force officers, deeming it unacceptable and demanding that it must end immediately. Students are citizens and learners, not targets for aggression and intimidation.
In response to this incident, the management, led by Dr. Abiodun Oluseye, has initiated the following steps:
High-Level Escalation: The matter has been reported directly to the Ogun State Police Commissioner, who has assured a full, impartial investigation and committed to holding any culpable officer accountable.
Medical & Psychosocial Care: The affected students are receiving comprehensive medical attention and psychosocial support to ensure their physical and emotional recovery.
The management appeals for calm and restraint, pursuing justice through proper legal and administrative channels. Students are advised to continue their academic activities, as the management is in touch with relevant authorities to ensure student security, both on and off-campus.
The management reaffirms its zero-tolerance stance on brutality and abuse of power, promising to provide updates as developments unfold.
