Professor Kabiru Olawale Paramole, a member of the Department of Religions and Peace Studies, has emerged as the new Dean of the Faculty of Arts at Lagos State University.

The election took place on Tuesday, 14th July 2026, at the New TETFund Postgraduate Hall 1, located on the LASU Main Campus in Ojo, Lagos.

In a closely contested election, Professor Paramole garnered fifty-one votes, surpassing Professor Isaac Adeniyi Yekini-Ajenifuja of the Department of Music, who secured forty-seven votes. A total of three votes were deemed void, bringing the overall number of votes cast to one hundred and one.

The Deputy Registrar/Faculty Officer and Returning Officer, Mr. Samuel Gbedozin, announced the result and declared Professor Paramole duly elected as the Dean-designate of the Faculty of Arts.

The current Dean, Professor Ayo Ayodele, will complete his tenure on Friday, 31st July 2026.

Professor Paramole is set to assume office on Saturday, 1st August 2026.

Following the election, Professor Ayodele extended his congratulations to the Dean-designate and expressed his optimism that Professor Paramole's tenure would further enhance the academic excellence and development of the Faculty of Arts.
