Plateau State University, Bokkos, has made a significant decision regarding the appointment of a new Registrar.
The University's Governing Council held a special meeting on Thursday, August 13, 2026, where they considered the report of the Joint Council and Senate Selection Board.
Following the meeting, it was decided that the ongoing process for the appointment of a new Registrar would be cancelled. The selection process initially commenced on June 10, 2026, but a hitch occurred that could have compromised the integrity of the process and the University.
To allow sufficient time for the appointment process to be completed, the tenure of the incumbent Registrar has been extended for an additional three months, from August 29 to November 28, 2026.
The University has clarified that candidates who were previously shortlisted and invited for interviews will not be required to re-apply.
The Council has assured members of the University community that due process will be followed to ensure that the best candidate emerges as the next Registrar of the institution.
