The Students' Union Government (SUG) of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi Chapter, calls on the whole student community to take note of two recent directives issued by university management for the safety, orderliness and proper upkeep of the campus environment.
1. NOTICE ON THE PROHIBITION OF POSTING OF CAMPAIGN BILLS ON UNIVERSITY BUILDINGS
The SUG acknowledges the management’s order that bars the defacement of university property by attaching bills, posters or any other campaign material to the walls of buildings across the Yelwa, Gubi and Medical College campuses.
We view the university setting as a shared heritage that must be maintained with dignity, discipline and a collective sense of responsibility. While the SUG respects students’ legitimate right to engage in elections, such involvement must occur within the framework of the university’s established rules.
Consequently, all aspiring candidates and their supporters are strongly urged to refrain from affixing campaign items to university structures or taking part in any action that could be considered damage to university property.
The SUG also calls on every student to run their campaigns with decorum, civility, responsibility and full respect for institutional regulations.
2. NOTICE ON THE PROHIBITION OF THE USE OF ELECTRIC COOKERS IN UNIVERSITY HOSTELS
The Students’ Union Government has taken note of the management’s directive concerning the use of electric cookers inside university hostels.
The SUG backs the administration’s stance and urges every resident to fully adhere to the existing hostel rules, especially the ban on unauthorised electric cookers and other prohibited appliances.
These precautions are intended to protect lives and property, create a conducive living environment and encourage responsible behaviour among hostel occupants.
The Students’ Union Government appreciates university management’s ongoing commitment to maintaining a safe, orderly and supportive academic and residential atmosphere. We assure the administration of the Union’s continued cooperation in fostering responsible student conduct and compliance with legitimate university directives.
