It has been brought to the attention of the administration of the Federal University of Technology, Babura (FUTB) that a number of graduating students together with certain departments are making plans to hold and take part in unofficial "Sign‑Out" ceremonies that are being presented as a way to celebrate the conclusion of their undergraduate studies.
The university management regards this situation with the highest level of concern and has issued an explicit order that such gatherings must stop immediately.
In line with this directive, every student who is about to graduate is hereby cautioned in the strongest possible language to refrain from arranging, taking part in, funding, promoting, advertising or otherwise enabling any unauthorized "Sign‑Out" ceremony, whether it is conducted on campus or off‑site, and regardless of whether the event is claimed to represent FUTB.
To eliminate any ambiguity, no individual student, class, department, association or collective of pupils possesses the right to organise such an event without the clear and written consent of the relevant university authorities. Any attempt to bypass this instruction will be treated as intentional non‑compliance with the management’s order and as a serious violation of university regulations.
The administration wishes to state unequivocally that a lack of awareness of this prohibition will not be accepted as a valid excuse.
Any graduating student discovered to have arranged, sponsored, attended, or otherwise assisted an unauthorized Sign‑Out ceremony will be subject to stringent disciplinary measures in accordance with the university’s established rules.
A student who knowingly takes part in or aids the prohibited activity will also be held accountable and may face disciplinary action.
Graduating students are therefore urged not to test the administration’s resolve on this issue. The university will not consider excuses, claims of ignorance, arguments that the gathering was merely a celebration, or attempts to shift blame after the fact.
Participants should be reminded that involvement in an unauthorized Sign‑Out ceremony can jeopardize the very graduation outcome they aim to celebrate.
A learner who has satisfied all academic requirements but deliberately contravenes university directives may expose themselves to serious repercussions at the point of graduation.
The management is committed to ensuring that the completion of studies, the conferral of degrees and all related university processes are carried out with the dignity, order and decorum expected of a Federal University.
All deans, directors, heads of departments, academic advisers, class representatives and student leaders are instructed to enforce strict adherence to this directive and to prevent the planning or execution of any unauthorized Sign‑Out ceremony.
Students are strongly advised to halt all preparations at once and to avoid committing any financial or other resources to such activities.
This communication serves as a FINAL WARNING.
Anyone who proceeds to organise, sponsor, or take part in an unauthorized Sign‑Out ceremony after this notice will do so at their own disciplinary risk and will bear the full consequences of any resulting action.
