The University of Ilorin Students’ Union has issued a fresh briefing on tuition and other fees for the 2026/2027 academic year after recent talks with university officials.

According to a press statement released on September 24, 2026, the Union reported that there will be no blanket hike in tuition fees. The administration has pledged to keep existing fees unchanged, apart from unavoidable additions linked to particular services.

For the bulk of the student body, the Union noted two new charges: an extra ₦4,000 for the Learning Management System (LMS) and a ₦200 fee for NIN verification, totaling ₦4,200 in additional costs.

The Union clarified that the LMS surcharge is intended to fund ongoing enhancements and smooth operation of the online learning platform, while the NIN verification fee aims to ensure precise student records and support administrative tasks such as the prompt issuance of ID cards.

Students enrolled in Clinical Sciences, Industrial Chemistry, Physics, and those taking minor subjects from these faculties may also face supplementary fees for items like manuals, workbooks, and mandatory field trips, which will be reflected in their individual fee statements.

The Union emphasized that the official fee schedule has not yet been released, so the figures provided in this update should not be treated as the definitive fee breakdown.

Learners are urged to monitor their personal student portals for forthcoming updates, where the exact amount each student owes will be displayed before any payment is made.

The Union added that its discussions with management also touched on broader welfare issues, such as improved internet connectivity, earlier distribution of course manuals, timely production and delivery of student ID cards, and better logistical arrangements—especially transport—for the upcoming session.

According to the Union, the university responded favorably to the raised concerns and pledged continued follow‑up to turn the stated commitments into tangible improvements for the student community.
