Kwara State College Of Nursing Sciences: Community…

Sep, 16Views: 28

The Kwara State College of Nursing Sciences, Oke‑Ode (KWCONOO) has set Wednesday, 16 September 2026, as the day for the entrance test for candidates seeking entry into its Community Midwifery Programme for the 2026/2027 academic session.

The announcement was made by the College Provost, Alhaji Olanrewaju AbdulQuadri, in a statement released on Friday through the College’s Chief Press Secretary, AbdulHafeez Oyewole.

According to the Provost, the assessment will be a written paper that starts sharply at 8:00 am and will be held at the IOT, UNILORIN Mini Campus, which is currently being used as the College’s temporary location.

Alhaji AbdulQuadri urged all prospective students to prepare thoroughly, reach the venue well before the start time, and conduct themselves with decorum throughout the process.

He also cautioned candidates against any form of cheating, emphasizing that the institution will not tolerate misconduct during the examination.

The Provost further advised applicants to read each question carefully, understand what is being asked before answering, remain composed, and give their best effort.

The Community Midwifery Programme has recently received approval to commence at KWCONOO from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN), following a successful accreditation that satisfied the Council’s required standards.

This two‑year course is structured to train competent midwives capable of delivering essential maternal and newborn health services at the community level. Graduates who meet the programme requirements will be awarded the Licensed Community Midwife (LCM) credential.

Unlike many traditional admission pathways, candidates for the Community Midwifery Programme are not obligated to sit for the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) exam. Applicants who possess the necessary O’ Level science qualifications may apply, provided they fulfill the admission criteria set by the College and the regulatory authority.

The Provost described the launch of the programme as a significant milestone in the College’s ongoing development, noting that it will create new avenues for individuals aspiring to become health professionals and will bolster the supply of skilled maternal and newborn care providers within local communities.

He concluded by wishing all examinees success in the upcoming test and expressed confidence that those who satisfy the requirements will soon join the College as enrolled students.
