JAMB Announces Dates And Guidelines For 2025 UTME Registration

Dec, 31Views: 1150

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), the body responsible for conducting the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), has announced the dates and guidelines for the 2025 entrance examinations into tertiary institutions across Nigeria.

The UTME is a standardized test designed for candidates who have completed their secondary school education and wish to gain admission into universities, polytechnics, or colleges of education.

Registration Period

According to JAMB, the registration for the 2025 UTME will last for six weeks, commencing on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, and ending on Wednesday, February 26, 2025.

Key Requirements for Registration

Prospective candidates are expected to meet the following criteria:

1. National Identification Number (NIN):

   - Candidates must possess an 11-digit NIN, obtainable from any NIMC enrollment center or via the NIMC mobile app.

   - The NIN is used to create a JAMB profile and is mandatory for registration.

2. JAMB Profile Code:

   - To generate a JAMB Profile Code, candidates must send their NIN to 55019 or 66019 via SMS to receive a 10-digit code.

3. Valid Phone Number:

   - Candidates must use a functional phone number to create their JAMB profile and receive updates.

   - The same phone number should be used throughout the registration and examination process.

4. Functional Email Address:

   - A valid email address is required for accessing registration details and correspondence with JAMB.

5. Educational Qualification:

   - Candidates should have their A’level or O’level results (WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, or GCE) ready at the time of registration.

   - Applicants awaiting results can apply but must upload their final results to the JAMB portal before admission.

6. ePIN for Registration:

   - An ePIN, costing ₦3,500, is required for JAMB registration.

   - Additional charges include ₦700 for registration, ₦1,500 for the main UTME exam, and ₦1,500 for the optional Mock-UTME (if applicable).

   - The ePIN can be purchased through authorized banks, online platforms, or USSD codes.

7. Personal Information and Biometric Verification:

   - Applicants must provide personal details, including their name, date of birth, gender, state of origin, local government area, and passport photograph.

   - Biometric verification (thumbprint) and a signature are also required.

Total Cost of Registration

The total cost for the 2025 UTME is approximately ₦5,200 for the main examination. Candidates who opt for the Mock-UTME will pay a total of ₦6,700.

JAMB urges all prospective candidates to adhere strictly to these guidelines to ensure a smooth registration process.
