The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has rescheduled the start date for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration. Initially slated for January 31, the registration process will now begin on February 3, 2025.

In addition, JAMB has issued a warning to Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres, threatening penalties for those engaging in fraudulent activities to obtain examination approvals.

This announcement was made through a statement signed by Dr Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, on Friday.

Reason for the Registration Date Adjustment

According to Dr Benjamin, the date shift was necessary to implement crucial updates to the Board’s registration procedures.

“These changes were prompted by the recent suspension of certain Law programmes at select universities, as reported to the Board by the Council of Legal Education,” he explained.

He further revealed that JAMB had uncovered cases where some CBT centres used misleading facilities to gain approval. This has led the Board to conduct additional assessments and withdraw accreditation from such centres.

Apology for Inconvenience to Candidates

JAMB acknowledged that this delay might inconvenience candidates and other stakeholders. In response, the Board expressed its regret, stating:

“We sincerely apologize for the disruption. The extra time will be utilized to ensure all necessary adjustments are made for a seamless registration process.”

Mock and Main UTME Examination Dates

According to The Guardian, the Mock UTME has been scheduled for April 5, 2025, while the main examination will take place from April 25 to May 5, 2025.
