The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has strongly dissociated itself from fraudulent messages circulating online, which urge candidates to reprint their examination slips for a supposed resit of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

In an official statement released by the Board's Public Communication Advisor, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, JAMB clarified that these misleading messages are being sent through a “spoofed version” of its official 66019 short code. The fake alerts are targeting candidates who have already taken the resit exam and received their UTME results, falsely instructing them to reprint their slips for another round of exams.

“These messages are fake, not from JAMB, and are clearly intended to mislead and confuse the public,” Dr. Benjamin warned. “There are no ongoing or scheduled UTME resit examinations at the moment. Candidates who sat for the resit and received their results should completely disregard any such messages.”

He further explained that the only upcoming JAMB examinations are:

1. The Foreign UTME – to be conducted in nine countries across Europe, the Middle East, and select African nations (yet to be scheduled).

2. The 2025 Mop-Up Examination – strictly for candidates who missed both the main and resit exams and have been granted special waivers, particularly those with biometric verification challenges.

JAMB urges the public to remain vigilant and ignore deceptive communications from unofficial sources. “Only candidates who are genuinely eligible for the mop-up examination will be contacted directly by the Board once arrangements are finalized,” Dr. Benjamin emphasized.
