The University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) has officially commenced the sale of transfer forms for the 2025/2026 academic session. The announcement, released via a circular signed by the Office of the Registrar on Wednesday, 31 December 2025, confirms that the exercise is open to both staff and students seeking either inter-university or inter-departmental transfers.

Commonly referred to as the “transfer season,” the process involves a series of structured steps that applicants must follow to ensure a smooth application.

Who Is Eligible
According to the circular, the transfer exercise covers:
    •    Staff and students seeking inter-university transfers
    •    Staff and students seeking inter-departmental transfers

Whether moving from one department within UNIMAID or from another university into UNIMAID, this process is the official route.

Payment and Form Collection Procedure
Applicants are required to pay a non-refundable transfer fee through the university’s Remita account via the official UNIMAID portal. After payment, the following steps must be strictly observed:
    1.    Present proof of payment at the Bursary Department
    2.    Proceed to the ICT Centre to download the transfer form

Following this order is crucial: payment first, proof verification at Bursary, then form collection at ICT.

Approved Transfer Fees for 2025/2026
The university has outlined fees based on the type of transfer:
    •    Inter-University Transfer (Within Nigeria): ₦150,000
    •    Inter-University Transfer (From Abroad): ₦250,000
    •    Inter-Departmental Transfer (Voluntary): ₦100,000
    •    Inter-Departmental Transfer (Obligatory): ₦50,000

All fees are strictly non-refundable.

    •    Confirm your transfer type before making payment
    •    Pay via Remita through the official UNIMAID portal
    •    Safely keep proof of payment (screenshot and printed copy recommended)
    •    Present proof to the Bursary before attempting to download the form
