The University of Jos Bursary Department has issued a warning to students regarding outstanding school charges ahead of the upcoming examinations. A memo, dated 9th March, 2026, and signed by Mr. Emmanuel Udah, Senior Deputy Bursar, emphasized that the department is mandated to collect all monies due to the university according to the University of Jos Act, Cap. U8.
Following a review of students' fee accounts, it was discovered that many students, particularly returning students, are still in arrears of their school charges. As a result, the university management has outlined several measures to ensure compliance with the payment policy.
These measures include not allowing any student to write the 2025/2026 sessional examinations without valid evidence of payment of school charges. Cash payments will not be permitted under any circumstances, and all school charges must be paid directly into the official University of Jos account. Students are strongly warned not to pay money to any staff member or personal account other than the designated university account.
Staff of the Bursary Department will carry out on-the-spot verification of students' evidence of payment. Students are advised to strictly adhere to these instructions, as anyone who fails to comply does so at their own risk. The Bursary Department wishes members of the university community a smooth and successful 2025/2026 sessional examination period.
