The Federal Government has declared Thursday, March 19 and Friday, March 20, 2026, as public holidays to mark the end of Ramadan and celebrate Eid al-Fitr.
The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the announcement and congratulated Muslims on completing the holy month of Ramadan. In a statement by the ministry's Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani, Muslims were encouraged to continue practicing the values learned during Ramadan, including love, generosity, peace, tolerance, and sacrifice.
The minister urged all Nigerians to use the holiday period to pray for peace, unity, and national progress. He also encouraged citizens to celebrate responsibly and show kindness to the less privileged.
The government reaffirmed its commitment to promoting unity and peaceful coexistence across the country.
