The Faculty of Biological Sciences Students’ Association at the University of Uyo has issued a warning to students about suspicious calls and messages targeting members of the faculty.
According to an official statement, unknown individuals have been contacting students, instructing them to attend a supposed GST class at an unfamiliar location and requesting special codes or one-time passwords (OTPs). The association confirmed that these messages are fraudulent and are being carried out by impersonators posing as the Faculty President and other executive members.
Students have been advised to take precautions: ignore suspicious calls or messages, avoid unfamiliar locations, never disclose special codes or OTPs, block and report scam phone numbers, and rely only on verified information from the Office of the Director of Information.
The association emphasized that all legitimate updates will only be communicated through official channels. Students were urged to remain vigilant, as the matter has been reported to authorities for investigation. FOBIOSSA reminded students that their safety is a top priority and encouraged everyone to help spread awareness to prevent further victims.
