The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, Professor Owunari A. Georgewill, invites the general public, graduands, and well-wishers to the institution's 36th Combined Convocation Ceremony.
The week-long event, scheduled from Monday, 1st June to Saturday, 6th June 2026, will feature the award of First Degrees, Higher Degrees, and the presentation of prizes.
The programme of events begins with pre-convocation activities, including a Jumat Service at the University Mosque on Friday, 29th May 2026, at 1:00 pm, and a Convocation Service at The Chapel of Annunciation, Catholic Chaplaincy, University Park on Sunday, 31st May 2026, at 9:00 am.
The convocation week schedule is as follows: Monday, 1st June 2026, features a Media Briefing led by the Vice-Chancellor at the Council Chambers, Senate Building, University Park, at 10:00 am. Tuesday, 2nd June 2026, includes a Tree Planting Ceremony performed by the Best Graduating Student at the New Convocation Arena, University Park, at 10:00 am, followed by a Red Carpet event at 5:00 pm and a Command Performance at The Crab, Delta Park, at 6:00 pm.
Wednesday, 3rd June 2026, features Class Day Activities at the College and Faculty level at 12:00 pm, and a Vice-Chancellor’s Dinner honoring First Class Graduands and Graduands with Distinction from the College of Health Sciences and the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the Vice-Chancellor’s Lodge, Delta Park, at 6:00 pm.
Thursday, 4th June 2026, includes a Research Fair/Exhibitions at the CBN and University Library at 10:00 am, a Fire Side Chat featuring Mr. Iyinoluwa Aboyeji OON, CEO of Future Africa, and a lecture on 'Finding Purpose: Optimizing Life after School' at the CBN Auditorium at 3:00 pm.
The grand finale takes place on Friday, 5th June 2026, with an Award Ceremony for the award of Certificates, First Degrees, Prizes, and Post Graduate Diplomas at the New Convocation Arena, University Park, at 10:00 am.
The convocation ceremony concludes on Saturday, 6th June 2026, with a Convocation Lecture and the Conferment of Higher Degrees at the New Convocation Arena, University Park, at 10:00 am. The lecture topic is 'Leadership and Infrastructure Development in Nigeria: Lessons for Future Leaders,' and the guest lecturer is His Excellency, Chief Dr. (Barr.) Nyesom Ezenwo Wike CON, GSSRS, POS Africa.
