Northwest University, Kano State, has taken a strong stance against examination malpractice by expelling 34 students found guilty of the offense.

The decision to expel these students was made during the university's 66th statutory Senate meeting, which took place on June 17 and 18, 2026. This move follows recommendations from the Senate Committee on Examination Misconduct, stemming from incidents that occurred during the Second Semester 2024/2025 examinations.

According to a statement issued by the Public Relations Unit on behalf of the Registrar, Dr. Isyaku Adamu, the disciplinary actions were in line with the institution's strict examination regulations as outlined in the Students' Handbook.

• The Senate approved the expulsion of 34 students for their involvement in examination malpractice.
• 18 students were rusticated for their roles in various examination-related offenses.
• 22 students received warning letters for their involvement in examination misconduct.
• One student, Rukayya Ahmad Zukuri, was cleared of any wrongdoing after a thorough review of her case.
