The Students' Union at FUTA has been made aware of the temporary closure of the South Gate due to ongoing renovation works. This development has been met with concern, and the Union immediately reached out to relevant stakeholders, including the Director of Physical Planning, to gather more information and ensure that student welfare remains a top priority.
Following discussions with the stakeholders, it was revealed that the temporary restriction is necessary to facilitate the decking phase of the renovation project. As a result, the use of the South Gate will be restricted to pedestrians only, with vehicles and motorcycles not permitted to pass through during this period. It is crucial to note that this arrangement is temporary and will be lifted once the decking phase is completed.
While the restriction may cause some inconvenience, students will still have uninterrupted access to the campus on foot through the South Gate. Additionally, they will be able to board the campus shuttle buses, which will operate as the approved mode of movement during this time. The Students' Union is committed to ensuring that the interests of students are protected throughout the renovation process.
The administration is aware of the potential disruption this temporary measure may cause and is working to minimize its impact. The Union is driven by the ideals of the Blueprint Consortium and takes all concerns raised by students seriously. The ultimate goal of the renovation project is to provide a safer and better access road for the entire university community.
The Students' Union appeals for patience, understanding, and cooperation from students during this short period. The Union remains committed to speaking for the students, standing with them, and prioritizing their welfare above all else.
The Students' Union thanks students for their continued support and trust. The Union is dedicated to ensuring that the renovation project is completed with minimal disruption to student life and that the end result is a safer and more accessible campus for all.
